If you still use the 2017 Apple TV 4K, the vintage label will not make it stop working.
Apple calls a product vintage when it stopped being manufactured more than five and less than seven years ago.
The label does not switch anything off. The 2017 Apple TV 4K supports 4K video, HDR10 and Dolby Vision, and runs on the A10X Fusion chip.
Each generation changed something that matters for a smart home. According to TidBITS, the 2021 model uses the A12 Bionic chip and the 2022 model uses the A15 Bionic.
The vintage tag is a weak reason to replace a box that works. Use this as a quick filter:
