If you already use Gemini's Personal Intelligence on your phone, it carries over to Android Auto with no setup. It's opt-in, you choose which apps Gemini can reach, and you can switch it off at any time.
Until now, Gemini on Android Auto handled direct commands: navigate to this address, play that song, call this contact.
It's opt-in. If you already enabled Personal Intelligence in the Gemini app on your phone, it carries over to Android Auto automatically.
The clearest win is attention. Typing an address, digging through email for a flight number or scrolling for a photo doesn't belong at 65 mph.
According to Engadget, Personal Intelligence launched at the start of the year for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and opened to free accounts in March.
Google's rollouts are gradual, so it may take a few days to appear on your account.
