If you're still logged in, changing your password takes under a minute: Accounts Center, Password and security, Change password. If you forgot it, Instagram sends a reset link to your email or phone.
The start is the same on iPhone, with one difference: in some versions the three-line menu takes you to Settings first, and Accounts Center is inside.
You don't need to be logged in for this. You do need access to the email address or phone number on the account.
According to Beebom, Instagram suggests at least 6 characters, mixing letters, numbers and symbols, without repeated characters in a row.
If you suspect someone got into your account, the new password only solves part of it.
