Apple worked with LG on a line of smart home accessories, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Neither company has confirmed it, and an announcement is expected next week alongside a new Apple home hub.

What was reportedly built

Bloomberg says the details come from LG’s regulatory filings. Xataka Home, which broke down the report, lists seven products:

  • a wired video doorbell
  • a smart thermostat
  • a smart deadbolt lock
  • a temperature sensor
  • a plug-in indoor camera
  • a plug-in outdoor camera
  • a floodlight camera

The names in the filings start with “LG,” such as “LG Video Doorbell Wired” and “LG Smart Thermostat.” So these will be sold under the LG brand, even though Apple helped develop them. Xataka reports they support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Matter. Thread is a low-power network used by connected home gadgets, and Matter is the standard that lets different brands work together, as we explain in our Matter guide. The lock reportedly uses ultra-wideband, the same radio tech in AirTags, to unlock as you walk up.

When they could arrive

Engadget says the LG lineup is expected to be unveiled next week with Apple’s new smart home hub. The LG accessories, though, aren’t expected on shelves for “at least a few more months.” Apple-branded products should come sooner.

Bloomberg also points to a refreshed HomePod mini in new colors and a TV set-top box as possibilities. The hub would be built around an AI-powered Siri that has been in the works for years.

What’s still unclear

Neither Apple nor LG has commented, so everything above rests on filings and Bloomberg’s reading of them. The product list could change before launch, and it isn’t clear which accessories will be sold in the US first, or how they would pair with Apple’s own hub.

Why it matters

LG is best known for appliances and TVs, so this would be a bigger push into home security. The two companies already work together: LG makes monitors for Macs, and Apple’s software is built into LG smart TVs.

If the Xataka report is right about Matter and Thread, the accessories could sit alongside products from other brands in the same home instead of locking you into one ecosystem.

Pricing, exact dates and US availability are still unknown. If you want to build a connected home today, a subscription-free option already on sale is the TP-Link Tapo Doorbell Pro D260.
