BMW has added an M60 xDrive version to its new iX3 electric SUV, with 603 hp combined. It’s the sportiest iX3 yet, going from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, and orders open at the end of January 2027.

What’s different from the regular iX3

The iX3 M60 uses two electric motors and all-wheel drive. According to Electrek, it makes 603 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. The iX3 50 xDrive, the model to compare it with, makes 463 hp and 476 lb-ft.

The rear-axle motor is a new Gen6 unit with a new stator, a more powerful inverter and a longer gear ratio. Besides the 3.9-second sprint, top speed rises to 149 mph, up from 130 mph.

The battery is 112.2 kWh, on an 800-volt architecture, part of BMW’s Gen6 eDrive platform. Higher voltage generally helps with faster charging, but BMW hasn’t given a charging speed for the M60.

Looks, cabin and driving gear

Outside, the M60 gets M-inspired light elements in the kidney grille and an integrated M badge. 21-inch wheels are standard, with 22-inch aero wheels optional.

Inside, there’s a 17-inch central touchscreen and a 43-inch BMW Panoramic Vision display. The steering wheel is M Sport, with physical buttons for M Sport and M Sport Plus modes. Options include a 3D head-up display and M Sport seats with lumbar and thigh support plus massage. A 13-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos is standard.

Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers and an electronically controlled rear M Sport differential handle the driving side. For driver assistance, it’s SAE Level 2, meaning the car helps with steering and speed but you stay responsible. The optional Highway Assistant works at speeds up to 85 mph.

Range, price and availability

BMW hasn’t announced range or pricing for the M60. Electrek expects range to land a bit below the iX3 50’s EPA-estimated 434 miles. The iX3 50 xDrive starts at $61,500, and the M60 will be priced above it. BMW hasn’t said which markets will get the car.

For context, 603 hp is a big step up from the 463 hp of the iX3 50 xDrive, a gain of 140 hp. The top-speed jump from 130 to 149 mph is also large for an electric SUV, and the standard 21-inch wheels and electronically controlled suspension suggest BMW is aiming at drivers who want a sportier feel, not only more power on paper.
