Samsung has started pushing stable One UI 9, its Android 17 software, to the Galaxy S24 series. The rollout began in South Korea and is expected to reach other countries over the following days and weeks. Beta testers in Europe and India were among the first outside Korea to get it.

Which phones are included

The update covers the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy Z Fold6, and the Galaxy Z Flip6, according to Notebookcheck. One UI 9 first shipped on the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8 in July, so the 2024 flagships are getting it about three months later.

Download size

How big the update is depends on where you start:

  • Beta users: roughly 500MB on the S24 series and 408MB on the foldables. They already received many of the features in earlier builds.
  • From One UI 8.5: about 3.8GB on the S24 series and about 3.5GB on the Fold6 and Flip6.

What’s new

Notebookcheck lists features that first appeared in the beta and on newer phones:

  • My FanCam keeps a chosen subject framed through a video.
  • Call Brief shows local time and country details for international callers.
  • Now Nudge offers suggestions based on your routines and activities.
  • Now Brief adds customizable cards.

Canaltech adds that the update brings visual changes, new AI features, a reworked Quick Panel (where brightness and volume controls live), better window and desktop handling in Samsung DeX, changes to system apps, and privacy and ease-of-use tweaks.

Why the timing looks shaky

The Galaxy S26 rollout showed how Samsung’s schedules can slip. Stable One UI 9 reached South Korea on September 16. Samsung’s Thailand newsroom then pushed the international date from September 21 to September 28 and later removed it. The S26 update arrived at the end of September, and Samsung gave no reason for the delay. That is a reminder that “rolling out” does not mean your phone gets it today. Samsung usually releases updates in stages, and timing varies by country and device.

How to get ready

When the update reaches your phone, you should see a notification. You can also check manually under Settings > Software update.
